President Scott Johnson’s Greeting:  
Good afternoon!   I’d like to welcome you to the Rotary Club of Mountain View.  Our Rotary International theme for this year is “Rotary: Making a Difference.”   Our District Governor Orrin Mahoney’s theme is “Developing Lifelong Friendships, While Making a Difference.”  Our Mountain View Rotary Club is “Having Fun Making a Difference.”  
 
Introduction of Visiting Rotarians & Guests:  Bert – Mountain View Residents Gloria Mungo and Elena Romierz as well as Monique’s husband Bill.
 
Announcements:
  • Thanks to Walt for being the “4’fer” today!
  • Last week’s auction … Thanks Tori!   $6,000 raised
  • Holiday Party, Sat Dec. 16th -- Bert – there will be a gift exchange.   $20 - 25 gift that can be wine.
  • Dick to be leaving club … pass around card.   Gift to be presented at Holiday Party
  • Foundation Minute:  Monique – Jack was recognized as a Paul Harris Fellow.
  • Endowment Fund Gift recognition:   Jim and Dee Cunningham ($4,768) 
  • Community Service Announcements --  Dave and Jim
  • Bell Ringing, Salvation Army, Sat, Dec 9th raised over $300!
  • Club Service  -- Twana and Tori  … Rotary Ski Trip March 8-12 (pass clipboard)
  • President’s Club:   Thanks to all!  We are presently up to 22 members for a total of $3,300.
  • Next Board Mtg:  December Board mtg canceled.     
  • Need someone to transfer food for Hope’s Corner Saturday morning as Dick is moving away
Personal Sharing/Announcements:
  • December Bdays: 3rd – Judy; 4th – Monique; 22nd - Ken S. 
Speaker:   Pastor Michael Love  with Trinity Methodist Church-- “Mtn View’s New Winter Shelter for Women & Families” 
           
  • Pastor Love has done a lot of work in Fiji
  • Shelter project will house 50 people.   Lots of support from city and CSA.  CSA will be referring potential people to the program prioritizing women and families.  Needed to install an expensive fire alarm system and remove all the pews to make room in the church.  The neighbors around the church were brought into the project.   He thanked our Rotary club for our on-going support.
  • Speaker recognition:   “In lieu of a speaker gift, we are making a donation to our Rotary “Polio Plus” Program on your behalf.   Polio Plus is an effort to eliminate polio from the world.
