Rotary Club of Mountain ViewMeeting Bulletin May 2, 2023 Tori, President-Elect, kicked off our first meeting of May of Mountain View Rotary Pledge of Allegance: Anita led us in the pledge and thankfully, no song Greeter & Thought for the Day: Anita talked about the passing of a dear friend who founded a global organization that supports individuals and their family members who have caused unintentional death or injury. She noted the many tributes pouring in from all corners and how her friend’s legacy truly illustrates how one person can make a huge difference in the world. General Club Announcements: - Club Service – Volunteer to help the Mountain View Public Safety Foundation and Police Activities League with their 5K Fun Run and Youth Extravaganza this coming Saturday, May 6th. Volunteers are needed to help set up the event starting at 7:30 am and then to help with the nine different Activity Stations during the Extravaganza which goes from 10 am to 1 pm. Let Bruce know if you are able to help or just show up on Saturday when you can.

SPEAKER: Daniel Kilburn, urban disaster planning expert, provided a compelling overview as to why it’s imperative to plan for and always be ready to respond to emergency situations. As a career military officer, Daniel has direct experience preparing individuals to respond to battlefield situations and made it his mission to apply this mindset to everyday situations following the Loma Prieta earthquake in 1989. His motivation and passion come from wanting to give future generations tools and resources to lead in tomorrow’s world, and of course, teach people how to help themselves.
