Meeting Notes -- December 9, 2025
Mountain View Rotary
Tuesday, December 9, 2025

Greeting/Ring Bell:  Cathy rang the bell at 12:04.  Welcome to our meeting of the Mountain View Rotary Club. This year’s International Rotary Theme is Unite for Good. Our local club theme this year is Our Rotary Family Cares

Fred Storek led us in the Pledge of Allegiance

Thought for the Day by Eric:  Rotarians have a common goal like geese flying in one direction.  Rotarians feel the challenge when they stray from the common goal.  When one Rotarian tires of leading, another is sure to take their place.  Rotarians, like geese, are always encouraging others to continue helping their communities.  When a Rotarian needs a rest, Rotarians will be there to care for them like geese.  Teamwork and Geese.

Program – Fred introduced our speaker, Bruce Karney.  Bruce Karney is a retired marketing professional and the husband of former Mountain View Rotary President Twana Karney. He is the Chair of Carbon Free Mountain View, a grassroots group of environmentalists.  They were the group most responsible for building the political support for the creation of Silicon Valley Clean Energy.  In 2008, and again in 2017, he was elected as Chair of the City of Mountain View’s Environmental Sustainability Task Force.  Thanks largely to the efforts of the second Task Force and of Carbon Free Mountain View, the City of Mountain View has increased its sustainability budget by more than $3 million per year.  The City’s 7-person Sustainability staff is now the largest of any city of its size in the Bay Area.

Bruce Karney handed out the slide presentation with key points:
Help is a click away in terms of looking at incentives from SVCE and Quit Carbon
If you would like a copy of the slides you can send Bruce an email.  His contact information is:
