Welcome to our meeting of the Mountain View Rotary Club. This year's International Rotary Theme is "Unite For Good." Our local club theme this year is "Our Rotary Family Cares."

Club Business/Announcements
- Updates:
World Polio Day on October 24th, and with Rotary’s partnership with the Gates Foundation, we hope to raise $450 million to eradicate polio in the world. And our Club continues to support Polio Plus with weekly donations of $25 to honor our Speaker.
President’s Club – All are welcome to join!
Cathy Bonus Bucks – Bruce presented a CBB to Scott for helping with the recent Senior Care Project. Sanjay also assisted and will receive a CBB as well.

October 16 – District 5170 Avenues of Service Celebration. 5:30 pm to 10:00 pm, at the Columbo Club in Oakland. The Club will pay for any Members who would like to attend. Great opportunity for new Members. See flyer on the clipboard for more details. Sign up list will be passed around.
November 14 at 5:30 pm – MVPSF Gala at the Ameswell Hotel. Tori has a table.
November 15 – Club’s Stevens Creek Train cleanup, from 9:00 am to 11:00 am, meet at Whisman Park at 310 Easy Street
November 23 at 9:00 am – Service opportunity Cops and Gobblers
December 19 at 5:00 pm – Rotary Holiday Party (mandatory event)
February 7 – Now the confirmed date for the Crab Feed
Program – Tori introduced our speaker today, Barb St Clair who will be telling us about the National Alliance For the Mentally Ill (NAMI) in Santa Clara County.
“Mental Health” is a brain disorder that affects feeling, behavior, or mood. One in five people have MH issues.
If you come across someone with mental health issues, call 988 (not 911) to get a free mobile team, and ongoing support for reentry into the community.
NAMI is the largest mental health organization. Its programs include:
- Education classes for providers
- Support groups
- a HELP line
- Basic “Homefront” support
- Support to educate and help the faith community
- “Meet NAMI” program for students and their parents.
“Work on your wellness” – NAMI supports mental health for all!
Speaker Appreciation Bruce presented Barb with a Certification of Appreciation with a donation to Polio Plus in her name.
Next Meeting – Next week we have a lunch meeting and our Speakers are Clari Nolet and Laura Fay from Los Altos Rotary talking about Environmental Advocacy and What Their Club Is Doing. Our 3fer is Paul.
