Cathy Merrill, Club President, welcomed all to the meeting. She announced that this year's International Rotary Theme is "Unite for Good." Our local club theme this year is "Our Rotary Family Cares."
Scott Johnson, 3fer for the day, shared a few quotes by Paul Harris, Rotary’s founder. One of the quotes was: “We muster people with similar interests, who create something together that’s much greater than what they could create individually.”
Bruce Barsi introduced visiting Rotarian, Joe Eyre. Joe, known by many in the club, is the President Elect Nominee of the Los Altos Rotary Club.
New Member Induction
Michael Singleton was inducted into membership of the Mountain View Rotary Club. Cathy explained that the Club Board had recently approved Michael’s application for membership. He lives in Mountain View with his partner Connie Johnson. Michael is retired from international logistics management, reverse supply chain activities, and corporate finance. He is a military veteran, having served three tours in Vietnam for the U.S. Navy. He has been very active in the community and currently serves as president of Honor Flight Bay Area Foundation. For hobbies, Michael enjoys table tennis, racquetball, and pickleball. He was presented his Rotary pin, badge, and welcome packet by Jeryann Mateo, Club Membership Chair, and by Scott Johnson, Michael’s sponsor.

Program: Possible Community Service Projects, Led by Paul Reinhart
Paul led a “brainstorm” session on possible community service projects. The plan for the new Rotary year will be two luncheon meetings per month, one social per month, and one service project per month. Ideas brought up for service projects were: Steven’s Creek Trail clean-up (2 times each year); Hope’s Corner food service; Community Services Agency; Canopy (planting trees); Cops & Gobblers (November each year); Mountain View Public Safety Foundation programs (Senior projects, PAL); RotaCare; Living Classroom (garden projects at schools); collaboration with climate groups (Bruce Karney contact); and various collaborative projects with Los Altos Rotary Club (Veterans Support, Books Plus, Climate Action Committee).
Next Meeting – Tuesday, April 21st. Speaker is Susan Summer who will highlight a recent trip to India. 3fer is Walt Joyce.
