Welcome to RC of Mtn. View. As Past President, Heather Stenshamn, I welcome you  to the club where: We’re more than a Club… We’re a family!

Our international theme for 2023-2024 is “Create Hope in The World”. Our Club's theme is “Help locally and have fun.”  Thank you for joining us today.

Nellie as our greeter shared a thought of the day: As we start the new school year and Rotary year, the following message was shared- “Almost every successful person begins with two beliefs: the future can be better than the present, and I have the power to make it so.” She shared how this aligns with the goals of the Rotary and that our collective work helps improve our community for our youth and adults.

General Club Announcements:

• Paul - working hard on service and marketing project for September 9 & 10 at MV Wine and Art Festival  

• Meeting next week is Uma Kelkar of Vivify.ai, sharing GenAI assisted copilot for creators

•  August 29 is happy hour,  Susan to share soon.

 *Sanjay shared Catherine V has been absent recently to care for her husband  who recently began hospice care. Please keep them in your thoughts. 

*Bruce congratulated Nellie and Sanjay on recent statistics that 92% of MVLA students completed the program this past school year, kudos! 

*Bruce announced his son is to be inducted in UC-Davis Hall of Fame in October for his amazing football years! 

Speaker - Mark Davis, founder of Unicode:  Mark was introduced by Fredrik Stenshamn, Heather’s spouse, by reminding how computers came to be. Unicode is an organization that builds character code and today approves emojis used by all member countries. Character text across hundreds of languages works due to Unicode’s efforts.
