Bay Area ESGR - Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve

Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) is a Department of Defense organization established to promote cooperation and understanding between service members and their civilian employers and to assist in the resolution of conflicts arising from the employee's military commitment. The ESGR Ombudsman Services Program provides neutral counseling and mediation of issues relating to compliance with the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA). 

Dr. Liz Dietz has been an RN for 56 years. Her passions include the Red Cross where she has been a volunteer for for 45 years. Liz is active in Red Cross health services & disability integration and Service to Armed Forces. She has served in the Bay Area ESGR region for 9 years. She has been married to a retired US Army Colonel for 55 years.

Her first RN role was during the Vietnam War serving as a LTJG for the USPHS as an evening charge nurse for a 65-bed surgical unit at the Brighton MA Marine Hospital.  As a neophyte nurse she learned from her corpsmen & her patients – still a great teaching modality today.

Liz began her career Community Health Public Health in Nursing School and never left – VNA staff nurse, camp nurse, public health/school nurse in Rockport MA – Completed 29 years teaching and administration of Community Health Public Health as Professor Emerita at San Jose State University. Now a part time School Nurse for San Jose Unified School District. And for fun serves as nurse at Cub Scout Day Camp!
