Dear Rotarians of Mountain View,

What an honor it is to be elected President of such a Club. Those who could not attend the Ceremonies yesterday evening missed a great event. Gerry and her retinue put on a fine show and I felt very privileged to come in at the last Act.

Thank you all for your encouragement and welcome. The flowers are lovely and grace my table as I write.

It was a special experience also for me to be able to attend the International Convention two weeks ago. Although I went alone I felt I was among friends- friends from all over the world. There was much to learn about Rotary and I was grateful for the opportunity to be there.

I am sure you will read about it in The Rotarian magazine. Opening ceremonies included the parade of flags of so many countries. Past International Presidents were introduced and I was happy to see our own dear Mat Caparas appearing on the platform. I am still sorting through all the information I gathered in the five days I was in Los Angeles.

Now we must be ready to welcome our District Governor on Tuesday. I hope you will all be present for that celebration.
