Meeting Bulletin for August 8, 2023
President Tori kicked off her first meeting with a greeting: Good Afternoon and welcome to the Rotary Club of Mountain View where: We’re more than a Club… We’re a family!
Our international theme for 2023-2024 is “Create Hope in The World”. Our Clubs theme is “Help locally and have fun”. Thank you for joining us today.
- Paul Reinhart did the thought for the day.
- District Governor Hung Wei was our only guest.
- Tori distributed Rotary ducks to members. Her intent is for members to prominently display the duck at work or other location. When someone asks about the duck, it is an opportunity to talk about Rotary.
- Tori invited members to join the President's club for $150

She told a story about a poor, young man who every year would get school supplies. He loved school and went on to be very successful. But, he never knew where the supplies came from. When he retired and joined Rotary he participated in a back to school back pack distribution event and he realized there are "invisible" people who help behind the scenes. He wanted to continue to be an "invisible" person helping others.
She also stressed the importance for Rotarians to create hope in the world and also to take care of members in your club. Sometimes you don't know if someone is struggling so stay in touch. She shared a related personal story about her daughter. She implored us to stay alert for others who may be struggling and look for ways to help.
She had 3 takeaways for Rotarians:
1 - be that invisible person
2 - be a happy Rotarian
3 - be a life time Rotarian
Hung also told us about District resources which are available as well as up coming fun events on September 9 and an international wheel chair distribution project in April 2024. She also wanted everyone to know how exciting and fun Rotary international projects are.
