President Scott welcomed all attending 
 
Our Rotary International theme for this year is “Rotary: Making a Difference.”   Our District Governor Orrin Mahoney’s theme is “Developing Lifelong Friendships, While Making a Difference.”  Our Mountain View Rotary Club is “Having Fun Making a Difference.”  
 
Frank led the Pledge of Allegiance; Jim Cunningham shared a thought; and, Phil led the club in a song. 
 
Announcements:
  • Thanks to Jim for being the “4’fer” today!
  • Crab Feed went well.   Alan asked for all remaining money from tickets sales to be turned in.  
  • Club Service  --        Rotary Ski Trip March 8-12
            Mardi Gras Party, 2/27, at Paul & Susan’s
            Rotating Dinner, Sat, 4/28 … chaired by Anita   
  • President’s Club:   Thanks to all!  We are presently up to 25 members for a total of $3,750.        
  • Next Board Mtg:  Thursday, February 15th , 5 p.m. at Villa Siena      
 
 
Program:   Speech Contest    -- Chaired by Sanjay and Judy    
Four outstanding students presented their speeches to the Club.The students, with the place they finished the competition, were:
 
1st Place – Lisa Deng;  2nd Place – Evan Fine;  3rd - Payton Fong; 4th Place – Charles Xu
 
 
Prize checks were presented.Karen Keefer, their Speech Coach, was also congratulated on her accomplishments with the students and regarding her upcoming retirement after 22 years of speech coaching.Jack Kelly, visiting Los Altos Rotarian, was thanked for his ongoing help with the speech contest.
