Meeting Notes
September 6, 2016
President Elect Scott Johnson greeted the club. Fred Storek shared a few profound thoughts. Tom Myers stepped up to cheer all with a song.
General Club and District Announcements were shared:
- Dave announced September 14 at 5:30pm is training for those who desire to usher at Community School of Music and Arts events.
- Sanjay seeks delivery assistance on Saturdays from 6:30am to 7:30am for Hopes Corner.
- Heather read a thank you note from Sydney Sheffield regarding her RYLA experience.
- Heather will be setting up the next Club Social on September 27th, with more details to follow.
- Next Board Meeting on Thursday, September 15th, 5 pm, at CHAC.
- District Governor Partner’s Project…Read Me A Picture is lead for our club by Judy. Donation request will happen soon and more details forthcoming.
- District 5170 unclaimed District Designated Funds has provided 22 laptop computers to at-risk youth. Email from Bob Goetsch that they are accepting applications.
- Monthly auctions will begin in September to raise additional funds for our club’s Endowment fund to keep scholarship giving strong. Our first auction will be held on September 13th, for 2 tickets to the Celebrity Forum with guest George Takai presenting on October 13th.
The club seeks additional auction items, let Club President know if you have something to donate.
This week’s speaker was Dr. Ayinde Rufdolph, Superintendent of the Mountain View Whisman School District. Dr. Rudolph discussed the strategic plan for the district which currently provides education to 5,083 children in grades K to 8. Scores in the district are continuing to rise in all categories.
The club meeting on September 13th will present Dr. Jeff Harding, Superintendent Mountain View Los Altos High School District and our 4fer is Heather Stenshamn.
