Bruce Barsi, Acting Club President, welcomed all to the meeting. He announced that this year's International Rotary Theme is "Unite for Good." Our local club theme this year is "Our Rotary Family Cares."  
 
Jerylann Mateo led the Pledge of Allegiance.
 
Roger Kao shared a thought about the progress of technology. He said he traveled to this country over fifty years ago from Korea. At that time, it was a two day trip, stopping at several places. Today, we travel the same distance in eleven hours. Roger is grateful and suggested we all appreciate this progress.

August 19 – Regular Club Meeting (Ingrid Rogers to speak re: climate)
August 20 -- Board Meeting, 5:00 pm, Tori's Office
August 22 -- Kickout, 5:00 pm, Il Fornaio (Tori, in charge of the event confirmed it is $75 per person).
September 6 and 7 – Mountain View Art and Wine Festival with MV Rotary volunteering
September 16 -- District Governor Herb Ritter visits Club
September 20 – Stevens Creek Trail Clean Up, 9:00 am at Whisman Park
February 7 -- Tentative date for Crab Feed
 
Other Club Business/Announcements
 
Update on Cathy’s Recovery: She is doing well and has started cardio therapy. Bruce thanked everyone who has been available to Cathy. He gave special recognition to Anita, and presented flowers to her.
 
The Kickout is on Friday, August 22nd starting at 5 pm at Il Fornaio – This is a mandatory event which all members must pay for, so please do your best to attend. Tori said she would send out an email about this and ask for all to RSVP.
 
President Cathy’s President’s Club – All are welcome to join! $150. Bruce announced he is making the first donation and Tori followed by committing to her $150.
 
Club members gave updates on their summer travels: Bruce regarding Tahoe; Eric regarding what ended up being a “stay-cation;” Fred regarding Pennsylvania and other places; Steve regarding a family event in Montana; Judy C. regarding family vacationing at her house; Tom and Anita regarding the Santa Fe trip, Bert about a family/friends trek to Montana in an EV.
 
ProgramClub Assembly. Bruce gave a chance for each club officer/leader to make announcements about their area of responsibility:
