President’s Greeting by Twana:   Good Afternoon & welcome to the Rotary Club of Mountain View where: We’re More Than A Club…We’re a Family!!! 

Our International call to action for 2015-2016 is to “Be a Gift to the World”.  Our club’s call to action is “Fun Through Service" This year’s club focus is “Being the Best We Can Be.”  Thank you all for joining us today.

Introduction of Visitors:  Jerylann led the welcome of visitors to our club: Dennis, Pablo from Argentina, and Helen who will be becoming a new member soon!

           

 

·         Thanks to Paul for providing dessert today: homemade cookies (BTW - he baked them himself)

 

·         Community Service: Scott  In December, the club will assist CSA with their holiday PJ and game drive.  4 bags of PJ’s and games were collected today.

 

·         Community Service: Bruce announced that the Cops and Gobblers event had 250 people who filled 375 food baskets which were then delivered in the community.

 

·         Winter Social and Snow gathering is once again hosted by Bruce is March 17-20 at Tahoe.  A sign-up will be available for the next few weeks. 

 

·         Holiday Party: Jerylann shared the holiday party is set for Friday, December 11 at Don Giovanni’s in Mountain View. Please RSVP as soon as you can.  We will include a gift exchange of $20-25 and it was requested no gift cards or wine.

 

·          Board Meeting is Thursday, January 21, at 5:00 pm at CHAC.  No December Board Meeting – Twana’s gift to the Board.

 

 

Foundation Cupcake Minute: Monique acknowledged Heather’s contribution to the Foundation.  Also District Governor Susan Valenta was on hand to recognize Jim Cochran and Jack Wong who each donated $1000. 

 

 

 

 

Crab Feed Update: Twana announced the Crab Feed will be canceled due to the lack of confidence in having healthy crab available.  The Board voted to cancel at the last Board meeting. 

 

Stanford / Cal Big Game Update: Cal beat the 15 point spread toughly negotiated by Ken.  As a result Jim S. donated $50 to the Endowment fund. 

 

Miscellaneous: Sanjay was traveling when the horrific events happened in Paris.  He said security became tight at airports.  He also said he was in contact with our past exchange student Valerie and she is ok.  With his update, he said he would donate $100.  Twana donated $20 with her announcement that hubby Bruce held a new born baby for the first time.

 

 

·         District Governor Susan Valenta informed the group that the district raised $15,000 for wheel chairs to go to Mexico.  Rotarians from the district are welcome to come to Mexico when they are delivered March 30 – April 3.

 

·         Youth Service Project Faire: Dec. 2, 4:30-6:00 pm, Interact leads District Cabinet meeting—6:30-8:00pm. India Community Ctr. 525 Los Coches St. Milpitas. Sign Up Sheet going around.

 

·         RI President Ravi Ravindran will be speaking at the Double Tree Hotel in San Jose on January 3^rd. It is a very special dinner event that will feature the current RI president and three past RI presidents, including MAT Caparas, Cliff Dochterman and Rick King.

 

SPEAKER INTRO:  Jim S. introduced speaker Matt Ackerman of Kranz and Associated who spoke about the new SEC Regulation A which allows new fund raising options for businesses.
