President’s Greeting:  
 
Good afternoon!   I’d like to welcome you to the Rotary Club of Mountain View.
My name is Bert Raphael, your President for 2018-2019. 
 
Our Rotary International theme for this year is “Be the Inspiration”. 
Our Mountain View Rotary Club theme is “Have Fun Being the Inspiration.”

Rotary Vietnam Project presentation (10 minutes)
  • Sarah Fang a Junior Pinewood High School.  Scholarships for at risk youth to combat Human Trafficking through soccer ball sales for $275 each.  One ball covers 5 tuitions and the balls are sent to 3rd world countries

Ana Maria Ruiz, General Manager of Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District – an independent special district in the San Francisco Bay Area that has preserved a regional greenbelt system of over 63.000 acres of public land and manages 26 open space preserves.
 
Began with a grass roots effort with measure R in 1972.  With 180 employees and 600 volunteers, the organization is funded via property tax to create, among other land acquisitions in the bay area, a continuous green belt in the Santa Cruz Mountains.  Developed a strategic plan in 2011.  Measure AA raised $300 million for capital projects only.  They provide over 100 docent hikes for guests to hike with a group.
