Since yesterday was Martin Luther King day, Bert Raphael reminded us of who MLK was, and that some of his statements and goals match what Rotary is doing in the world today.

We welcomed our speaker Stacy Cross, and her assistant Stephanie; Dianna Zamora Marroquin, a director of Public Affairs at Planned Parenthood; Joseph Curran, a representative of Shashi Hotels; Kathy Thibodeaux; and Jenna Pendleton from the Town Crier.

Speaker:
Stacy Cross is the President and CEO of Planned Parenthood Mar Monte, the largest of more than twenty Planned Parenthood units in the USA, serving much of California and Nevada. More than 160,000 patients, from all 50 states, were cared for at Mar Monte in the past year.
There are two types of abortions: pharmaceutical and surgical. Planned Parenthood provides both, as needed, and protects the records of patients from unnecessary scrutiny. Since 26 states now ban abortion, there has been a 300% increase in Planned Parenthood abortion cases in the past year. Planned Parenthood Mar Monte provided $5 million for abortion care last year, and will help anyone needing such care, “no matter what”.
