Call to Order: Scott called the meeting to order at 12:05, noting that today is the last meeting for our international theme, “The Magic of Rotary,” as well as our club theme, "Mountain View Rotary: 100 Years of Creating Magic through Service and Fellowship."
Pledge and Thought for the Day: Fred led us in the Pledge of Allegiance, and our 3-fer Anita talked about a particular scene in the hit TV series, Everyone Loves Raymond, that struck her funny bone and offered wisdom about changing how we perceive our flaws by remembering the good stuff.
Club Business/Announcements:
- Cathy is undergoing a significant surgical procedure later this week, so we are postponing the Kick-Out to provide ample time for her recovery. We will also take a pause on club meetings in July. Scott will serve as the club liaison to share information about Cathy, especially when we can start visiting her.
- Scott presented Angela with her Blue Badge – congratulations!

- The Golf tournament was a big success; special thanks to Steve Nichols and Walt Joyce for organizing the event, and to Walt and his team for the best scores.
- Community grant recipients this year are Hope’s Corner (sponsored by Hal Taylor) for healthy food; Compassion Week (sponsored by Anita Grossman) for senior activity kits; and the Mountain View Public Safety Foundation (sponsored by Bruce Barsi) for senior care program. The three organizations will share equally in the $7,200 available for distribution.
- Scott reported on RYLA on behalf of Catherine. Three Mtn View High School students are attending this year’s RYLA Leadership Camp: Jannat Bhatia, Raul Carrera, and Joaquin Garcia-Bueno. The Club thanks Catherine for her work and funding one of the students!
- Heather will represent the club at the Rotary International Conference in Calgary later this month.
- Heather distributed dues invoices for the period January 1, to June 30, 2025.
Upcoming Club dates:
- MV Rotary Pickleball “League” – Fridays, 9:30 a.m., Rengstorff Park
- Wednesday, June 18 – “Joint” Board meeting at Tori’s office in Los Altos

Program: Following a fun trivia quiz about Washington, D.C., Scott talked about the recent trip he and Joan enjoyed there. Highlights included their visits to the Martin Luther King Memorial, FDR Memorial, Jefferson Memorial, National Capitol Tour, National Art Gallery, Ford’s Theater, Supreme Court tour, and running into/chatting with Maryland Congressman Jamie Raskin.
Following the program, Heather led an enthusiastic round of applause for Scott’s great leadership this year.
That’s all folks – see you in August!
