Presentation to Hope’s Corner, Inc.: Bob Lee from Hope’s Corner Inc joined us today. We are very pleased to be able to present a donation in the amount of $1,000 to his organization to help feed and provide services for individuals who participate in the weekly Saturday breakfasts.

Scott: Work Project last Saturday - Living Classrooms: There were 9 of us and we worked very hard. We prepared the raised beds to go from winter crops to summer crops, set up a little outdoor seating area for children to learn, and prepared another raised bed area right outside of a classroom. Sheila impressed us all with her strength and stamina.

Bruce B: If you haven’t paid for the Rotating Dinner yet, the cost of the dinner is $32 per person and we ask that each of you who attended pay $32 per person to Sheila. Checks are preferred and should be made payable to the Mountain View Rotary Club.

Twana: Joint Board Meeting is Thursday, June 16th at 5:00 pm at CHAC.

 

 The District is holding an event on June 23 to Toast and Toast the outgoing District Governor Susan Valenta and to welcome the incoming District Governor. All are welcome to attend the BBQ being held at Gilroy Gardens from 5:30 – 8:30 for $37. See the information on the clipboard going round.

 Personal Sharing: 

Hal Taylor explained his health recovery:  Last year he spent around 2 months in the hospital.  He was told that about 50 other persons had his disease and they were mostly dead.  Hal has made a 99% recovery and is almost through it. He thanked the club for our support for him.

Hal also said that his son Bret is getting married at the end of May, 2016.

 

Bert Raphael told us that he and Ann were celebrating their 54th wedding anniversary.  Bert contributed $100 to the Endowment Fund for this honor.

 

SPEAKER:  Bruce Barsi introduced Manny Martinez, a staff member of the Mountain View Chamber of Commerce.  Manny told us of the purpose and activities of the chamber, along with the task and organization that the chamber has.  He explained that there are many things going on in the city and many of them have implications for chamber members.

Next Regular Meeting of the Year: is Tuesday, June 7th. Our speaker will be Candace Bowers of the Mountain View Historical Association, speaking on “Ohlone, Orchards, and Offices: A Brief History of Mountain View.”
