Guest Introduction: Rtn Prof. Krishnamoorthy Sundararajan from Rotary club of Nanganallur Elite Rotary District 3234 India Chennai Classification shared his background with the Forensic Science Service, Government of India, and his involvement with various Rotary Clubs and community projects, including gender affirmation surgery for transgender adults and temple tank restoration.
 
Thought for the Day: Michael Singleton delivered a speech on the spirit of perseverance and unity in Rotary, emphasizing the impact of small, consistent actions.
 
Community Grants and Applications: Reminders about community grant deadlines, with two applications received so far. Discussion about potential education related grants and the Green Team on campus.
 
Club Updates and Member News: 
  - Updates on Judy Hannemann's health and her stay at a nursing facility. 
  - Camp RYLA 5170 is open for applications. 
  - Plans for a board meeting. Probably next Wednesday. Cathy will send a notice.
 
Stevens Creek Trail Cleanup: Acknowledgment and thanks to members who participated in the Stevens Creek trail cleanup event.
 
Upcoming Events and Meetings: 
  - Fridays: Rotary Pickleball, Rengstorff Park at 9:00am
  - May 12th: Club Social - Location TBA
  - May 19th: Claudia Olaciregui, Principal of Gabriela Mistral Dual Immersion School in the Mountain View Whisman School District will speak to us on the workings and benefits of their dual language      program.
  - No regular meeting next week; a club social is planned.  
  - Next regular meeting is on May 19th. 
  - The annual 'kick-out' event is scheduled for June 26th at Pacific Catch. (Mandatory Event)
  - Memorial Day (May 26th) - Dark/ Memorial weekend/ No meeting

Bruce handed out "Cathy Bucks" for recognition of various club events.
 
Event Logistics: Scott discussed the logistics for the kick-out event, including sign-ups, corkage fee sponsorship, menu selection, and attendance tracking. A clipboard was circulated for signups (how many members, how many guests, wine corkage sponsorship). Scott will inform our Honorary Members.
 
Nonprofit Speaker Introduction: Introduction of Matt Bell (CEO) and Cassie Souza (Chief Development Officer) from Pivotal, a nonprofit supporting foster youth.
Pivotal Presentation: Matt Bell presented on Pivotal's mission to support foster youth in Santa Clara and San Mateo counties through academic coaching, scholarships, and career development. He discussed the challenges faced by foster youth, the impact of trauma, and the organization's outcomes, including high school and college graduation rates. Pivotal is exploring new revenue streams and expanding mental health support.
Q&A with Pivotal: Questions addressed about the number of youth served, vocational opportunities, coach employment and turnover, and support for immigrant youth.
 
Club Recognition: The club recognized the speaker's contribution with a $20 donation to polio.
