Mountain View Rotary Luncheon

Presentation (Heather) The members viewed the slides from our Club’s 100th Anniversary Celebration. Thanks to all who planned and participated. There were eight past Presidents in attendance.
 
Greeting/Ring Bell (Scott)
President Scott Johnson opened the meeting with the reminder that this year's International Rotary Theme is "The Magic of Rotary." Our local club theme this centennial anniversary year is "Mountain View Rotary: 100 Years of Creating Magic through Service and Fellowship."

Thought for the Day by the 3'fer (Judy) “Working hard for something we don’t care about is stress. Working hard for something we love is passion.”  This quote by an unnamed author reminded Judy of our Rotarians. Whether it be the Crab Feed, Trail Clean Up or any of our small or large projects, we do the work with passion because we are dedicated and love serving our community.
 
Introduction of Guests & Upcoming Programs (Cathy) Welcome to Harry Price from the Los Altos Rotary and Governor Jill Duerig, District 5170 Governor
 
New Member Induction – Eric Volta by Scott, Jill, & Jerylann. Scott detailed Eric’s extensive background in education leadership which brought him to be the new Superintendent of MVLA high school district. Eric shared an inspiring story about how his family grew from one to four children over the years.
 
Presentation to Alex, before mobilizing with the military The group thanked Alex for his energy and leadership, especially with RYLA. Alex is moving to Kentucky for a military deployment and will be on a leave of absence from our Club during that time.

Program – Jill Duerig, District 5170 Governor (Scott)
Jill recounted her journey with Rotary and inspired our Club to continue with our service to the community. Each person can do what is most relevant and possible depending on the stage in their family life and career. She asked for three volunteers and asked them a few questions regarding their most memorable moments in our Club.
 
Speaker Recognition Scott presented Jill with a certificate indicating that our Club was making a donation to Rotary’s Fight to End Polio.
