Meeting Recap - 11/11/08

With all City offices closed and City employees not at work we found ourselves locked out of the AdobeBuilding.

Hiro was able to find us room at the BuddhistTemple and we are grateful for all his help. Nicki did a splendid job getting our meal served with very little delay so our program could go ahead.

VISITING ROTARIANS and GUESTS

Tom Myers had no visiting Rotarians to welcome.

Carla Paul introduced Jennifer Anderson who came to Mountain View three years ago to settle near her daughter and grandchild.

VOCATIONAL TALK

Jenny-Rebecca described how through her efforts the YMCA is now providing many services at Moffett Field to the 300 families who live on the base.

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Jim Cochran reminded us this is Foundation Month. Contributions received by him before Nov. 26 will receive a ticket for each $20 for entry in the annual drawing at the District Office Meeting in December. 1^st prize is a trip for two to the International Convention in Birmingham, 2^nd prize is a trip for two to the Project Fair in Belize.

Bruce Barsi passed around a sign-up sheet to help Cops and Gobblers on November 23, 9am at Mountain View Police Station

Ernie Hawks announced that the speaker on December 2 is to be Lieutenant Commander RT, Etay Nir who was 12 years as a ranger in the Israeli Navy.

FINEMASTER:

Judy Hannemann in Jim Cunningham's absence checked out members of the Presidents Club and fined a few who have not yet joined. 

SPEAKER:

Jim Cochran gave a detailed account of action by the troops who struggled in the Choisin Reservoir area of Korea. He showed maps and explained the hard conditions and appalling casualties of the whole venture.

Next week November 18, we shall be hearing Cindy Luedtke and Maria Marroquin telling us about the progress of the DayWorkersCenter.
