ANNOUNCEMENTS

Our next Board meeting is Wednesday, March 11, at 4.30pm at CSA.  New members and prospective Board members will be welcome.

 

The same day there is a Chamber of Commerce Mixer at the MasonicTemple on Church Street from 5pm to 7pm.

 

Alicia Crank reminded members about the Hate-free community workshop March 25th at the Adobe. Alicia will send out evite and please forward on to local business owners etc.

 

Chuck Osborn- Visioning Meeting, March 26 from 5pm-9pm at CSA - questionnaires should be turned in by next week, March 10th.

 

Bruce Barsi,  We are all asked to Bring an Easter Bunny to Rotary on March 31st. These we hope will multiply to provide toys for our Cops and Gobblers program in November.

Bob Deneheim announced  the visit of Group Study Exchange visitors from the Philippines April 4-7. Bert Raphael and Walt Joyce will host some. Other hosts are needed.

 

Bob Williams just returned from Japan where he met a former Rotary Exchange student who had lived with his family years ago. Bob had helped her with some badly needed dental work at the time and due to that act of kindness she went on to become a dental hygienist. Another student who also visited Mountain View went on to become a director at IBM and now supervises 40 others. Our influence on exchange students really can make a difference.

              

April 18-20 is the District Celebration at Santa Clara Marriott Hotel-  Programs are on Chuck's table. Our Club is to join Los Altos in a hospitality suite. Judy Hannemann is meeting with Steve Pesner and  Anderson to plan the hospitality suite.  Please plan on attending at the Saturday night dinner.

 

SPEAKER

Anita Grossman to introduced speaker- Becca King Reed  , director of KTEH Public Television.

 

KTEH started in 1964 and was run by the county office of education. They then partnered with San JoseState and starting offering adult education and college extension programs. Then went on to community events.

KTEH joined NET (National Education Television) and were the first to air Sesame Street.  They were PBS affiliated by 1970 

 

KTEH is short for K teach.

Their mission is to provide northern California with non-commercial media to inform, educate and entertain.

KTEH is 100% member supported with 60% of their funds coming from individual contributions.
