Music: Celebrate with our Past President, Monique Kane, the end of a monarchy on 7/14/1789 - the United States was not the only country having a revolution in the 18th Century, and we heard La Marseillaise in recognition.

Visiting Rotarian: Mr. Surenda from Poona presented the club with a paper bag made from newspaper which can support 20lbs of weight and is sold by children and people with disabilities to raise money.

Announcements:

  • Thanks to Karen, Sandi and Alicia for getting ClubRunner going, and to all who have helped sponsor the Web site. 
  • Committee Chairpersons and club members are encouraged to attend Rotary seminars at the Double Tree in San Jose.

  • Bob Williams was recognized for becoming a double sustainer of the Rotary Foundation.  Bob is a 6-time Paul Harris Fellow.
  • Bruce Barsi, Bert Raphael and Monique Kane were recognized for joining the President's Club.

Today's Speaker:
Peter Drekmeier, Bay Area Program Director of the Tuolumne River Trust.  The mission of the Tuolumne River Trust is to promote the stewardship of the Tuolumne River and its tributaries to ensure a healthy watershed.  They believe that serious river restoration and protection efforts, strategic land acquisitions, and improved water flow and conservation policies create a healthier river for people and a habitat sanctuary for spawning fish, waterfowl and all other river-dependent species.  They focus most of their efforts in the Sierra Nevada, Central Valley and the Bay Area.  In the Bay Area we strive to promote stewardship of the Tuolumne and innovative models of sustainable water use and efficiency.
