  • The Roast and Toast BBQ in Saratoga on 7/10 was postponed as Dick Lohmiller has been hospitalized.  New date is 8/28.
  • Committee Chairpersons are encouraged to attend Rotary seminars at the Double Tree in San Jose.

  • We have received letters of resignation from Curtis Church and Tim Sandis.  Both will be missed.

  • A speaker from Rotary Partners in Service is coming to the Club on 10/21.  This person will be talking about benefits received from Rotary Foundation

Recognition:

  • Carla, Bruce and Matt were recognized for joining the President's Club
  • Bert Raphael was recognized for being a Super Sustainer of the Rotary Foundation and a member of the board
  • Anita, Twana and Sandi were recognized for being Double Sustainers of the Rotary Foundation
  • Alicia became a Double Sustainer in honor of her new job
  • Bill M. fined himself $40 for missing three weeks while working with students on Reef Check.

District Governor Auction:
Alan served as auctioneer, and the prize from the District Governor - a silver dish - went to Ken Schwaderer. 

President's Message:
President Sheila shared her experience at the International Convention, and her goals and thoughts on the coming year.  These include:

  • To have lively and interesting meetings
  • Increase membership and diversity by reaching out in different areas
  • Develop better fundraising methods to help reach our community goals
  • Work with other clubs in the district to further the ends of Rotary
  • Make good use of Club Runner
  • Do things together and have fun!

Our President also shared her ideas for strategies to meet these goals, and urged everyone to join a committee to help our club grow over the next year.  Other projects for the next year include:

  • More advance planning and leadership
  • Clarifying our relationship with the Sister City program
  • Looking after exchange students with the heightened need for certification
  • A clearer process for looking after our funds
