Meeting Recapof Sept 4, 2012
President Judy welcomed all to the BEST Rotary club ever. Our call to action for this year under International President Sakuji Tanaka is “Peace through Service. Our District focus is Mission Membership.
The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Tori Corbett.
The Thought for the Day was led by Chuck Osborn. “The best is yet to come.”
Phil Armi led us in “If you’re happy in Rotary…..”
President Elect Bruce Barsi introduced visiting Rotarian Bill Mahood from the Los Altos Sunset Club and visitor Jack Wong.
Bruce Barsi, acting as our fantastic Finemaster visited Bert Raphael for coming in third in last weeks Texas Holdem Tournament. He mentioned that he won $100 but it cost $175 to enter the tournament. He got to choose something from the Jeopardy Board. As did Walt Joyce, Anita Grossman, Roger Kao and Frank Davilla.
Announcements:
Jim Cochran announced the RotaCare open house next Tuesday, Sept 11 from 5 to 6 PM. There will be snacks and a chance to see the changes made in their expansion. “Where did all of our donated money go?”
We need a club photographer for on-going pictures for the newsletter, weekly Bulletin, etc.

Looking for housing for a German teenage tennis player for a few months while he attends a local academy.
Don’t forget to bring in your travel hotel and airline giveaways - lotions, shampoos, conditioners, toothbrushes, whatever. Just bring them to the meeting
and Judy will take them to CSA for distribution.
Jim Cunningham will have Stanford football tickets for October 6th to auction at next week’s meeting.
Foundation
Gerry gave us a minute about “every Rotarian Every year.” We have a goal of $5,000. The District Governor will be visiting in November and she would like to have all the donations or pledges in by his visit.
Program
Our program for today was the District 5170 Vocational Services Chair, Jim Gibson. His Power Point presentation was compromised so he spoke about his experiences with the Cupertino Job Services organization.
Next Week
Our program next week, September 11, will be Young Han speaking about Go Volunteer. Our Three-fer will be Tom Myers.

We have an application from Jack Wong, proposed by Judy Hannemann. He is a Sr. Financial Advisor for Morgan Stanley Smith Barney. If you have any questions or concerns please contact our Secretary or Membership Chair. If there are no concerns in the next 7 days, he will be voted on by the Board and given an orientation
