April gave an extremely enjoyable and informative talk about engaging with the internet for personal and professional purposes entitled “Practical Applications for the Real World”. April spoke about the various types of social media available such as Facebook, Twitter & Linked In as well as a number of various websites to investigate. One of the most important topics she discussed was privacy and encouraged all of us to be mindful of our privacy settings while accepting the public nature of the web. She emphasized the following:
