Meeting Summary Feb. 22, 2011
President Sandi called our meeting to order at 12:30 with a rousing welcome.
Bob Williams led our pledge to the flag.
Phil Armi led us in “Beautiful Morning”.
President-Elect Anita introduced Sheila with her daughter Sue Grant. We were introduced to Christina Rockhold from the Shoreline office and speaker Martha Wallace. Bill Matson introduced Scott Johnson from Villa Sienna.
Scott Johnson put in a plug for a fundraising event to benefit Villa Siena on May 12. It is a competition in Bocce Ball. It will be held in Los Gatos and cost $750 for a team of 6 players or $150 per individual. For a person to eat, drink, and watch it costs $50 per person. To sign up go to www.villa-siena.org
Club Announcements:
February 23rd is the 106th Anniversary of Rotary. If you make an online conation of $100 or more to the Rotary Foundation you will receive double Paul Harris Recognition credit. RI President Ray Klingsmith will ring the closing bell of the New York Stock Exchange in NYC in honor of today’s anniversary.

Bert is looking for a temporary housing plan for a 24 year old Rotaractor from Germany. He will be attending Stanford but needs housing starting this weekend.
St. Francis Interacat needs raffle items. Any electronic items available?
President Sandi is looking for a scholarship coordinator. A couple of people have agreed to do interviews, but a coordinator is needed.
Mother’s Day cares are available through District 5170 – Honor mothers on Mother’s Day and help mothers in regions of the world protect their children from the sprad of Polio. Your $25 donation will provide polio vaccines for 40 children.
Princess Project during February:

Fine Master Judy:
Judy responded to the many comments that “she had dressed up today”. She explained that it was just that she was wearing a dress for a change.
Judy called on Ken to explain the UCLA/Cal game. Cal won.
Geri took a fine for her trip to Tarpon Springs, FL. She explained about the wedding and the beautiful sunset that she found.

Our speaker was Martha Wallace, a docent at the Rengstorff House at Shoreline. The house was built in 1867 and is the oldest house in Mountain View. Ownership passed to the city with no plan to have it refurbished. The house sat around in storage while being vandalized. It was finally refurbished by the City of Mountain View and opened in 1991. Refurbishment cost over $1 million.
The house is now open for rental events and for docent tours. The downstairs is furnished as it might have been in the 1800’s, with the addition of a catering kitchen. Upstairs are the offices of the Shoreline administrators.
There will be a 20th anniversary celebration on Sunday, May 22, 11 AM to 5 PM. The house is open for tours on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Sundays from 11 AM to 5 PM. For more information go to www.r-house.org
