Meeting Summary Jan. 31 + other stuff

Our monthly fellowship meeting was held at the Cantankerous Fish preceeded by the Board Meeting.
In addition to 23 members and spouses in attendance, there were some potential new members in attendance; Paul Reinhart & his wife, Tori Corbett, and a member of the Murphy Rotary Club who is going to stay in Mountain View with her husband in their second home.
President Anita called the meting to order for a few moments of introductions and a presentation. She read a proclomation thanking Alan Goodman for his great leadership in another successful Crab Feed held Saturday January 28th at the Buddhist temple. In addition to the money raised by ticket sales and drink tickets.
Gerry raised $520 for Polio Plus in a 50/50 raffle; the Interact Clubs at St Francis raised money selling Root Beer floats; and the German School Interact club sold home made desserts to raise some money.
Several members have recently heard from Ernie Hawks. He is out of the hospital and back in his Palm Desert home. He had pnemonia and was hospitalized since shortly after Christmas.
Ken Schwader, Scholarship coordinator, is in need of several school chairpersons to coordinate the interviews at Los Altos and Mountain View High Schools. The interviews take about 2 hours and will be conducted at the school on a day of your choosing. See him for more details and timing. Applications are not due until March first. Interviews should be conducted sometime in April.
Monique Kane, our International Director, announced that the Los Altos Rotary delegation, which we are supporting with our District Designated Funds, is in Liberia training Drs. in Aids education. Rich Casey, from that club will be at a future meeting describing his experiences and results from the trip.
Several members are investigaing meeting possibilites for locations back in Mountain View. If you have a room, space, or location we should consider, please let president Anita or any Board Member know so further investigations can be done.
