Meeting Summary June 21, 2011

President Sandi called her last meeting to order at 12.30 pm.

Jenny-Rebecca reminded us that the world is waiting to be shaped by everyone.

We all joined Phil to show we are Happy in Rotary.

Chris McDonough, Sandi’s husband, was a welcome guest.

Bert Raphael spoke of the long term and short term student exchange programs and introduced Justine from St. Francis High School. Sponsored by Los Altos Sunset Club, she leaves for Rome tomorrow to stay with a family. She told of her many school activities and interests and excitement about her trip.

Two students from RYLA came to tell us about it. Daniel had attended the camp in 2008, and is now a first year university student and a counselor at RYLA. Jahnavi went to RYLA this year and found it a mind-changing experience. She is an Interact member and plans to go to India to work for 5 weeks next year.

President Sandi is looking for three more website sponsors to cover our website hosting costs. For $40 business logo and website will be added to our Rotary website.

Kim Castro, about to take leave of absence for 6 months, introduced Ellis Berns from the City of Mountain View to bring us up-to date on Economic Development here. He spoke of companies involved, especially Google, and plans for promoting jobs, revenue and City services. Tiffany Chew told of Incubators and encouragement offered to start-ups in the City. The General Plan is being updated to include both residential and commercial development. 

Past President Tom thanked Sandi for being the very best President.

The Kick out is Friday, Michaels at Shoreline, 5.30 pm for cocktails and 7.00 pm dinner.

There is no Club meeting on June 28.
