President’s Greeting:    Judy Hannemann, our President for 2012-13 provided the welcome.   She will be president for 4 more meetings!

Our call to action for 2012-13 is “PEACE THROUGH SERVICE.”  Our local focus –both District 5170 and MV Rotary - is “Mission Membership”!

Song of the Day:  Led by Phil Armi – God Bless America

Introduction of Visiting Rotarians and Visitors:  St. Francis scholarship recipients Allie (going to Brown) and Nicole (heading to UCLA) were welcomed.    They brought a shirt as a gift for Alan.

Finemaster:   Bruce - Rotary jeopardy snagged Monique for $20, but Burt answered his correctly.  Twana and Jim may already have been at their limits so they played for fun.  If not, then Twana’s fine was $25 and Jim’s $30.

Announcements:

We also heard from Alan who will be playing at Maltby’s in Los Altos on June 28 from 8 – 11.  That’s PM. Also from Bob who is now working with his 3rd group of doctors in China.  Dave told us he just got back from visiting family in Europe.  Jim recently moved his final child to Manhattan and his other child will be playing the lead in Cinderella in NY.

The list for the Kick-Out on June 30 at Michael’s is MIA so Anita will be emailing everyone to re-confirm.

Pres Elect Alan is still looking for individuals to find speakers for 4 more months.  Scott signed up for 2 months so Alan would like to actually find 5 people.

Golf and Barbecue and Poker –  Is this  week Friday, June 7 at Shoreline.  Judy will not be attending due to a “prior Commitment”!!  To quote Judy “… while you’re here baking this weekend, I’ll be in cool, colorful Colorado with expected highs of 64º to lows of 34 º!...”

Kick-Out – Sunday June 30th -  Note: the time is 5:30 to 9:00 pm (not the 2:30 – 5 that somehow got in our notes).   There may be a meeting on June 25 but we will be dark on July 2.

The June District Cabinet and End of Year Celebration and Thank You’s will be Wed., June 5 at the Doubletree Hotel in San Jose.  If interested, let Judy or Bruce know.

District Governor Joe Hamilton’s Kick Out – Roast and Toast will be Thurs., July 18 at Saratoga Springs.  This is usually a fun event – especially if a group of us go.

Jim Cunningham-  Update on Dennis Kobza – Dennis is doing well and should be back with us in a couple of weeks.

Tornado Damage Relief - Our district 5170  is in contact with Oklahoma City Rotary regarding the collection and sending of funds in District 5170 to assist those in the path of the recent tornado.  These funds would be intended for long-term recovery and not immediate response relief. Just how Oklahoma City plans to utilize funds they collect for the victims will be announced as soon as our District Governor  knows.  In the meantime, they are collecting funds from individuals and clubs.  If someone has a suggestion for a small fund-raiser or passing the hat or whatever, please let me know.

Donations can be sent payable to Rotary District 5170 Foundation to:

Rotary District 5170

Judy reminded us about RSVP’ing to meetings – if you’re not coming or if you are bringing an extra person.   It is very important for you to indicate that you are not coming to a Tuesday meeting…..on ClubRunner or by eMailing Chuck by Monday Noon if at all possible.
