Thought for the Day: Bert gave us a thought for “Super Tuesday”, by quoting what candidate J.F. Kennedy wrote in 1960:
“I believe in an America where religious intolerance will someday end; where all men and all churches are treated as equal; where every man has the same right to attend or not attend the church of his choice; … and where Catholics, Protestants and Jews, at both the lay and pastoral level, will refrain from those attitudes of disdain and division which have so often marred their works in the past, and promote instead the American ideal of brotherhood.
That is the kind of America in which I believe.”

General Club Announcements:
· The Board has approved Tori Corbett’s application for membership, and we’re so excited to welcome her to the Club. We will conduct a sort-of formal Induction ceremony next Tuesday.
· Additionally, the Board would like to welcome Thomas Dittler and Beth DeLing as honorary members. They will have blue badge status and pay visiting member fees for all actitivites and otherwise be considered as club members.
· In honor of Rotary International’s 107th birthday, the District is organizing and underwriting most of the costs of a group ad. We had a group ad that ran in the Palo Alto Daily Fusion, and there is supposed to be an ad in today.
· Foundation Minute – Gerry Felix
India has just been recognized as polio free for more than an entire year! That leaves only three countries in the world—Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Nigeria—who still suffer from the wild polio virus.
· Membership Minute – Jerylann Mateo
We participated with other Rotary clubs in a group ad that appears this week in local papers.
· Community Service Minute – Jim Spangler
We will be joining in a Stevens Creek Trail Clean-up project on April 21 from 9 until noon; please sign up to help.

SPEAKER INTRO & PRESENTATION: Judy introduced speaker Janis Lathen
Janis told us about how her safari trip to Tanzania a few years ago changed her life. She had studied Swahili before the trip. When she introduced herself to a high school group in Swahili, the reception was so overwhelming that she decided to do something to help that school. She offered to provide them with a few computers, and then learned that the school did not have electricity. She now devotes full time to raising funds and providing solar electric systems, appropriate computers, and educational software, to that school and others in Tanzania.
Next week our speaker will be Dexter Dawes on “Trekking in the Himalayas.”
Our “three-fer” will be Jerylann Mateo.
