We need members to serve as counselors for our exchange students. Gerry will be Bianca’s counselor and we need 2 more female counselors for Justine, our short term exchange student going to
Counselors maintain monthly contact with students and act as liaison between students, Rotary club and host family. Let Bert or Sandi know if you are interested.
Club BBQ is scheduled for June 10th here at the Adobe.
Kickout will be Friday, June 24. More details later.
Kim Castro announced that Service Grants amount to $14529. Eight students will be going to
Skye Delano received $1000 for F.L.Y. (Fresh Lifelines for Youth). For ten years this organization in
Bruce Barsi received $2000 for “Cops and Gobblers”, the program run by Mountain View Police Activities League, providing Thanksgiving baskets of food and toys delivered to families of local students.
Molly McCrary received $2500 for “Just Read”. For six years this program has helped students who have dropped behind their classes in reading. Now math is being included in their curriculum.
Monique Kane received $2500 for CHAC (Community Health Awareness Council). Their work in counseling local students and sometimes their parents is now being extended to all Sunnyvale Schools.
Kim thanked Jim Spangler, Carla and Gerry for serving on the Grants Committee.
