Club Announcements:
Asante is tomorrow evening at the Historic Del Monte Building - Carla reviewed the activities and food vendors. She encouraged members to bring wine to add to the wine auction.
Mark your calendars now for our Crab Feed on January 28, 2012 - Alan Goodman will again be the chairperson. He needs all hands on deck for the event.
Reminder that the Holiday Party is on Sunday, December 11 at Cuccina Venti on Shoreline. The event will begin at 6:00 for cocktails and 7:00 for dinner. The wonderful Madrigals from Mountain View High School are confirmed, and we'll have the ever-popular gift exchange.
Last week's Fellowship Meeting at The Cantankerous Fish in downtown Mountain View was fabulous - great food (and lots of it!), drinks and conversation. District Governor Arley Marley joined us for the fun!
The District newsletter was circulated; please note that the District is starting a public awareness campaign that will help every club and is looking for high resolution pictures that demonstrate District 5170 community service, international projects, fellowship and New Generations.
We have identified a few venues for our meetings next year, beginning in January; more information to follow.

Gerry Felix read the following from our exchange student in Germany:
Sorry that I haven't written an e-mail to you for so long! I was busy these weeks because my host family planned out lots of things for me to do over the two-week holiday. The Zweibelmarkt was great! I had tons of fun with my friends at school and also with the other Rotary inbound students. I bought some souvenirs made from onions such as the onion puppet and a small basket filled with baby onions. I also tried the famous onion cake, which was not as good as I expected. Matter of fact, I don't really like the taste of it. I also rode on the big Ferris wheel and went to some concerts in Zweibelmarkt. Overall, the Zweibelmarkt was fun!
As for my two-week holiday, I went to Austria with my host family for the first 4 days. We went to the Hundretwasser museum, beautiful palaces, Volksopera, the famous Prater Ferris wheel and around Vienna . I didn't get to buy a lot of souvenirs because we don't have a lot of time. But I will get to spend more time shopping at Vienna at the Europe tour.so that is good! After the trip to Austria , I stayed over at my friend's house for couple of days. We had a fantastic time shopping together, making sushi, and also go-karting. For the rest of the break, I spent most of the time at my host grandparent's house. I cooked German soups with my host grandma and also spent some nice time with my host grandparents, walking in the forest. Next week, I will go to Paris with the other exchange students for five days. I am very excited, but I have to ride more than 10 hours of train from Berlin to Paris .so it will a little bit uncomfortable and tiring. L
I will tell you how the trip went when I get back from Paris .

The motto of TRF is Doing good in the world.
The mission of TRF is to enable Rotarians to advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through the improvement of health, the support of education, and alleviation of poverty.
2011-2012 Foundation Goals:
1. Top priority is to eradicate Polio.
2. Build a sense of ownership of our Foundation among Rotarians through their contributions to the Annual Programs Fund, the Permanent Fund, and our Rotary Peace Centers.
3. Continue our progress on the Future Vision plan and align our service projects with 6 areas of focus:
1) Peace and conflict prevention/resolution
2) Disease prevention and treatment
3) Water and sanitation
4) Maternal and child health
5) Basic education and literacy
6) Economic and community development
