Announcements:

Bert Raphael wanted us to keep in mind an International project that we, our club, could take the lead on.

Speaker:

Deirdre Marlaw from the Peninsula Bridge project.  The project is 23 years old and serves mostly Middle School students.  The reason being that if they can get thru High School Algebra, they can go to a State College.  They serve breakfast and lunch and provide transportation to the sites for nearly 400 students.  The cost is about $1,000 per student.  They have a 95% success rate.  Nearly 30% of the students are from other countries.  Most of their funds come from grants and some come from individuals. Deirdre has been with the program for nearly 2 years.  She used a video and power point presentation with technical help from Bert.

An email to our club via Anita:

Dear Anita,

I would like to take a moment to congratulate you and your team, for the great year you had in Annual Giving. You were at $203 per capita giving; 100% EREY; and 129% of goal. A truley outstanding performance.

What a great year, and  your leadership lead the way.

For all the people that will be served by the generosity of your members, I thank you and the club again.

Yours in Rotary Service,

Roger
