.President Sandi opened the meeting at 12.30 pm.

 

Ken Schwaderer reminded us of Rotary’s 4-way Test and suggested its application in sports.

 

Alan Goodman arrived in time to have us sing Happy Birthday to him.

 

President Sandi urged everyone to mail out the 10 letters to support Rotary’s End Polio Day. Sign up with Kirsten Dorset or on line to join other Rotarians in San Francisco on October 24.

 

No fines today, but Judy noted that Twana is named in the San Jose Mercury for Acterra’s Green@home program. Alan’s daughter will be performing in the Sleeping Beauty at Los Altos Bus Barn theatre starting next Friday.

 

Twana was presented with a Certificate for joining the Presidents Club.

The Board is to meet on Wednesday October 13 at 5pm. at the YMCA in the Rotary Room.

Avenues of Service will be Thursday, Oct 21, at Double Tree in San Jose.

 

Carla has tickets ($50.00 each) for the A Sante event in Sunnyvale on November 11. Donations of wine or other items for the Auction are being collected.

 

Bert proposes a Ski trip to Park City, Utah on February 3, 2011. Airfare and accommodation for about $700 can be arranged if enough skiers let him know immediately.

 

Alan announced the Crab Feed will be on Saturday January 29, 2011. Keep the date clear.

 

Heather Stenshamn, proposed for membership by Judy Hannemann, was inducted and welcomed by President Sandi. She is a transfer from Wisconsin and works in the office of Young, Craig & Co.  Her classification is CPA.

 

Jim Cunningham a tailgate party at Stanford on October 23 at noon prior to the Washington State game on October 23.  The game will be at 2:00 PM.  Fred has an area near gate #10.

 

Our speaker was Mike Kasperzak, City Councilman and Past Mayor of Mountain View.

He discussed and answered questions on proposition 22 and Measure T which are important to voters in Mountain View and Santa Clara County. He reviewed other items which are affected when the State goes on to take locally raised taxes for balancing the State Budget. Everyone is urged to vote on November 2.
