Future Plans for Hacker DoJo

A lifelong woodworker, historian and educator, Eric Hess didn't plan to run a non-profit, but when a for profit makerspace he was a member of abruptly closed its doors, he stepped up to lead a community effort to launch a new non-profit makerspace.  Five years later, that organization, Maker Nexus, is thriving in Sunnyvale.  Eric moved on to join Hacker Dojo in Mountain View as its new Executive Director and helped it survive after struggling from closure during COVID.  A year and a half later, Hacker Dojo has stabilized and is looking towards its future, supporting entrepreneurs, techies, students and anyone in Silicon Valley interested in finding community around technology.  

“We have an opportunity to expand into a stunning new facility and take our next step forward.” said Eric.  “This expansion will allow Hacker Dojo to better deliver in several ways, including support to local community First Robotics teams, hosting meetups and networking events, and building a hub for the next generation of entrepreneurs to find community, mentorship, support and connect with other founders, dreamers and explorers.

“We are always looking for organizations to collaborate with, mentors for new entrepreneurs, skilled professionals to share their experience and stories, and more people to join our community and bring their unique background, skills, talents, and stories to be part of the Hacker Dojo community as we look forward to the next 15 years.”
