Meeting Agenda – April 2, 2019

President Bert welcomed all in attendance and reminded: Our Rotary International theme for this year is “Be the Inspiration”. Our Mountain View Rotary Club theme is “Have Fun Being the Inspiration.”
Bert called for the Pledge of Allegiance. Jason shared a thought for the day. Phil led a song. Judy welcomed today’s visitors. B. Cunningham, a visiting Rotarian from Bend, Oregon, was introduced. He is visiting his daughters here in the Mountain View area while transitioning between homes in Bend, Oregon.
Announcements:
- Thanks to Scott for being our 4-fer today,
- Community Service –CSMA sign-ups are going well. This is a good opportunity to get Rotary’s name out in the community.
- Sign up for Stevens Creek Trail Clean Up this Saturday April 6th was passed around.
- Sign up for Rotary Rotating Dinner which will be held on Saturday, May 4th, beginning at 5:30 was passed around.
- District Training Assembly is April 6
- District golf tournament is May 17 in Alameda – Roger is signed up. Any others interested?
- District Conference, May 17-19 on the Hornet, Alameda.
- Dick Lubman’s wife passed away unexpectedly and memorial service is coming soon.
Vocational Speech: Anita gave a talk about her background starting out in teaching and her transition that lead her to going back to school and ultimately talking with Tom one night at a Rotary social which resulted in her current position in the fundraising space.
Induction of Jason to the Mountain View Rotary club began with a speech by Scott and Jerylann presented Jason with his official acceptance into Rotary. Tom presented the Four – Way Test and its significance to Rotary.
The day was finished with a video of Rotary’s impact on Polio and what the organization along with the help of others has been able to accomplish.

Future Programs: April 9, 2019 – Bob Davila
Bob Davila, former Mountain View Rotary member, who every year works the wine & beer bar at the Rotary Crab Feed (and son of long time Club member Frank Davila) will be our speaker next Tuesday the 9th. Bob is working for the United States Census Bureau for his second U.S. Census and has a very interesting and insightful talk about the importance and significance of the ongoing National Census. Bob’s program will be multimedia, was just given to NBC News and Univision, and he will have information handouts at the completion of his talk. This should be a great program so please invite friends, relatives, and prospective members to attend.
