- Today’s meeting is a talk given by Michael Singleton about Honor Flight
Michael is the current President of Honor Flight Bay Area, but he started as a Flight Leader. He did three tours in Vietnam and wanted to continue to honor veterans with Honor Flight. Veterans from WW II, Korea, Vietnam and Desert Storm are provided a three day, all expense trip to Washington DC to visit the monuments. So far Honor Flight has taken over 340,000 veterans to DC with the oldest veteran being 103 years old. The next trip is September 10 – 12.
One of the challenges for the organization is finding the veterans from those wars. Another is fundraising. Honor Flight Bay Area will be hosting an event at Caymus Suisun on August 22. For a $175 ticket, people will get a gourmet lunch with wine pairings. For $275, people will also get 3 bottles of Caymus wines. There will also be an auction at the event. If you are interested in going and carpooling, let Scott know.
