President’s Greeting by Twana:   Good Afternoon & welcome to the Rotary Club of Mountain View where: We’re More Than A Club…We’re a Family!!! 

Our International call to action for 2015-2016 is to “Be a Gift to the World”.  Our club’s call to action is “Fun Through Service" This year’s club focus is “Being the Best We Can Be.”  Thank you all for joining us today.

General Club Announcements:
 
  • Thanks to Heather for providing dessert today: homemade brownies and fruit salad.
 
  • Community Service: Scott shared last week was a special day assisting with refreshments at the Veteran Day Ceremony on November 11.  November activity is Cops and Gobbler, see below.  In December, the club will assist CSA, date and time details coming soon. 
 
  • Community Service: Bruce announced great weather forecasted for Cops and Gobblers this Sunday, Nov. 22 at MV Police Station at 9am.  Wear your layers as basket filling will be outdoors. Gently used stuffed animals are requested to bring with. 
 
  • Winter Social and Snow gathering is once again hosted by Bruce is March 17-20 at Tahoe.  A sign-up will be available for the next few weeks. 
 
  • Holiday Party: Jerylann shared the holiday party is set for Friday, December 11 at Don Giovanni’s in Mountain View. Please RSVP as soon as you can.  We will include a gift exchange of $20-25 and it was requested no gift cards or wine.
 
  •  Board Meeting is Thursday, November 19, 5:00 pm at CHAC.
 
  • There will be no meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 24th, we wish you a Happy Thanksgiving Holiday.
 
 
Foundation Cupcake Minute: Twana shared November is foundation month and strongly encourages all members to give for the club to reach 100% participation.
 
Crab Feed Update: Alan shared our annual fundraiser is being reviewed due to the health of local crabs. He requested member’s ideas and thoughts to allow the Board to review this week. 
 
District Announcements:
 
  • Youth Service Project Faire: Dec. 2, 4:30-6:00 pm, Interact leads District Cabinet meeting—6:30-8:00pm. India Community Ctr. 525 Los Coches St. Milpitas. Sign Up Sheet going around.
 
  • RI President Ravi Ravindran will be speaking at the Double Tree Hotel in San Jose on January 3rd. It is a very special dinner event that will feature the current RI president and three past RI presidents, including MAT Caparas, Cliff Dochterman and Rick King.
 
Personal Sharing/Happy Bucks: The Cal - Stanford football crew agreed to a 15 point spread.  Twana presented plaques to 5 members who were interested in posting at their place of work. 
 
 
SPEAKER INTRO:  Dick introduced speaker Jack Wong who spoke about the Stock Market and the Outlook for 2016.  Jack quizzed us about the stock prices 7 to 10 years ago (Apple & Disney) and S&P increase since January of this year (which is flat). Jack shared his prediction of areas that will be strong in 2016 and does not foresee the feds will increase interest rates next month.  He reminded us about the new social security provision to end the right to claim the spousal benefit that was part of the Bipartisan Budget Act of 2015.  Stay diversified as interest rate increase and slowing economy could affect your portfolio.
