Meeting Notes
November 3, 2020
President Paul welcomed everyone to today’s Mountain View Rotary Meeting. The Rotary International theme for this year is “Rotary Opens Opportunities.” Our Club theme is “We Open Opportunities For Everyone in the Community.”
Mandy is our Rotary Foundation Chair this year and the goal for the Club is to have 100% participation in this year’s contributions to the Foundation. You can send your donation for The Rotary Foundation to Mandy Andrei at 2934 Vivian Lane, San Jose, CA 95124. If you prefer, you can also make your donation to The Rotary Foundation on line at https://my.rotary.org/en/donate. If you make an on line donation, please send a message to Mandy to let her know.
For those who would like to join the President’s Club, please make your checks out for $150 to the Mountain View Rotary Club and send them to Mountain View Rotary President’s Club, PO Box 390280, Mountain View, California 94041.

We welcomed Dr. Achal Gang who is considering joining our Club.
Paul told us that we would not be able to do a Stevens Creek Trail Cleanup in the near future as the City is reluctant to schedule such events during the pandemic.
If anyone knows of any of our members in distress or that need anything, please let President Paul or one of the Board Members know. We want to make sure everyone knows that we are here to take care of each other.
Member Update
Cathy – Nothing really new. Visiting the Farmers Market and some downtown restaurants for takeout. Haven’t been able to go out dancing for awhile.
Scott – Villa Siena is doing good with no COVID outbreaks among the residents. Shoulder is doing well after replacement surgery and looking forward to resuming tennis activities.
Judy – Took the COVID test and it was quick and painless and came back negative. Heading down to San Diego next week to visit her Son and his family who she hasn’t seen in almost a year.
Sanjay – MVLA is possibly looking at some adjustments to grades to reflect distance learning. They have started learning PODS at school for some of the students that are having difficulty with distance learning.
Achal – Will be moving to California soon to be closer to his Son and would like to join our Club.
Bert – Term on Grand Jury which had been extended due to COVID is winding down with about a month to go. Taking fiddle lessons each week and continuing with his Old Time Dance group using Zoom.
Hal – During Compassion Week with his Church, he built several planter boxes for a local woman’s shelter. Having a COVID test on Wednesday in preparation for an upcoming heart procedure.
Activity
Heather created a very exciting Rotary version of Jeopardy with categories including Election, Rotary, Presidents, Miscellaneous, and Current Events and points from 100 to 500 in each category. With the combined brain power of our finest members and a little help from Heather’s kids, the Club scored an amazing 5,300 points! It was a lot of fun and thanks very much to Heather and her Family for a great activity.

Next Meeting
Tuesday, November 17, 2020, via Zoom. Social time will start at 12:00 pm with the meeting beginning at 12:15 pm. Our speaker will be Bridget Johns-Pavlopoulos on the topic of Safe Shopping with ShopSafe.org.
There is a Board Meeting on Thursday, November 12th, via Zoom, starting at 5:30 pm
