Thank you to everyone who helped clean up Steven's Creek Trail.

On Saturday April 25th we celebrated ROTARIANS AT WORK DAY, all along StevensCreek trail and we had a fine walk but less trash than anyone expected. Tom Myers, Jim Cunningham, Fred and Debbie Storek, Bert & Anne Rafael, Alan Goodman, Jim Cochran, Peter Jenni and CJ Early, and Sheila Hodgkinson were hard at work.

ALAN GOODMAN was welcomed back after his absence.

 

Jim Cochran recently sent out a notice about the future of The Rotary Foundation. The Club voted by a show of hands in favor of the motion that

The Rotary Club of Mountain View supports the application of District 5170 to participate in the Pilot Program for making changes in Rotary Foundation.

 

Fred Storek received a Certificate for joining the Presidents Club.

 

SIGN-UP sheet for attendance at the District Assembly on Wed. May 13 was passed round .

 

Tom Myers offered for auction two tickets to the Opera - Carmen and Walt Joyce

paid $35 into Club Funds.

 

ALICIA CRANK, Community Services Committee Chairperson presented checks for grants to local organizations:-

 

Bruce Barsi-           Challenge Team (MV/LA/LAH) Challenge Bike Ride- $200.00

 

Monique Kane-      Community Health Awareness Council (CHAC) - $2,000.00

 

David Duran PhD.-Family & Children's Services (Fatherhood Book Project) $300.00 

 

                       

Members who have already been interviewing students in the local schools were thanked for their time and effort

 

Dennis Kobza and David Tran for helping at MV High School,

Monique and Bill Heinz  at MV Academy, 

Bruce Barsi , Chuck Osborn and Peter Early at SaintFrancisHigh School

Judy Hannemann and Sandi McDonough at Alta Vista High & MVLA Adult Education. 

 

Their recommendations will be reviewed along with those from other Rotary Clubs on Friday at the MVLA Community Roundtable.

 

Cheryl Moller announced the Bocce Ball Social event is May 9

 from 3:30-5:30pm at Campo de Bocce, 565 University Avenue, Los Gatos.

 

Gerry Felix  introduced our Speaker:- Mary Jo La Faye

Mary Jo educated us all on....

"What's New in Reverse Mortgages"

 

Presented Certificate of Recognition to speaker and a contribution to Polio Plus will be made in her name.

 

Next week, May 5,  Speaker is to be Darryl Stallworth from the  organization DEATH PENALTY FOCUS, to make us more aware of what happens on our Courts.

Our next Board Meeting is to be a joint meeting of current and incoming Boards. It will be on May 20 in the CSA Board room at 4.30pm.
