Monique Kane announced that the cost for the Kickout on June 27 will be $70.

 

Alicia, Community Service Chair, reminded us that today is an election and we should vote.

 

She presented our check for $500 to Gabriela Pierre of the Silicon Valley Chapter of the Red Cross. The money goes to their program called "Safe Ride" which serves local high schools by providing cars and drivers to take young people home and avoid drunken driving.

 

Bob Williams, who has been going to China for many years to teach dental hygiene, announced that now two Chinese Universities will include this in their programs. Two dentists from China are to come here to learn how to teach dental hygiene. Bob asked for help to find accommodation for them in this area.

 

Gerry Felix introduced speakers: - Robert Swierk assisted by Emily Avery told us  about the Grand Boulevard Initiative. This is a coalition of local organizations concerned with planning development along El Camino Real from San Francisco to San Jose. More information can be found at www.grandboulevard.net and you can see the project map on Google Earth.

 

A Certificate of Recognition was given to Robert Swierk showing we contribute to the Polio Plus fund in his name.
