Meeting Recap 7/21/09

Our greeter Ernie Couture welcomed Rotarians and guests to our meeting and also shared a thought for the day.

The pledge of allegiance was led by Sandi McDonough.

Our President-Elect Sandi McDonough introduced our guest Paul Cummings a former Rotarian from El Paso.

Bert Raphael was recognized by Tom Myers and Sheila Hodgkinson for his continued service in Rotary.

Tom Myers went on to recognize Ernie Hawks, Alan Goodman, and Hiro Kariya as members of the President's Club.

Our new Finemistress Alicia Crank brought the bucket of fines and many Rotarians had to pay for not wearing any Rotary "swag."

Bonnie Luftig shared about the upcoming Senior Games being held at Stanford University. Volunteers are needed to help with this massive event.

Bert Raphael shared with us that we have a new Exchange student this year from Germany, however we are hoping that another club will step up and be their hosting club.

Chuck Osborn reminded us about the San Jose Giants game on August 1. You can sign up for this event online or at the meeting on July 28th.

Tom Myers said that Rotary Day at the A's is scheduled for August 15.

El Camino Hospital is having an open house on Saturday, September 26 from 1:00 to 5:00PM.

CHAC is having it's annual fundraiser at the 37th annual Mountain View Art and Wine Festival on September 12 and 13. Your time helps make this fundraiser succesful.

Our speaker was Christie Dacanay from Mothers' Milk Bank. MMB is a nonprofict organization near Valley Medical Center in San Jose. They are a licencsed tissue bank that has been providing service for nearly 35 years in California. They started in 1974 and since then over 6,500 donors have provided over 2,000,000 onces of milk to infants and toddlers who are failing to thrive or have life-threatening diseases or conditions. They are in need of industial freezers to store donated milk.
