General Club Announcements:

 

·         District Conference June 1 - 3

 

·         Foundation Minute – Gerry Felix

 

 

·         Club Service Minute – Walt Joyce—Rotating Dinner, April 27th  & Club golf tourney and BBQ June 8th, see Walt for details.

 

·         Options for moving meetings back to Mountain View – All—President Anita opened the floor for discussion about returning to Mountain View for our meetings. The Club’s fact finding committee has suggested multiple meeting place options—back to our previous meeting place at the Old Adobe Builbing, Michael’s at Shoreline,  Don Giovani Restaurant downtown and continuing at the Palo Alto Elks. After much discussion, each meeting place presents plusses and minuses. The majority of the members favored meeting in Mountain View with the Old Adobe Building (with some adjustments) being the favored meeting place. To be continued……..

SPEAKER INTRO & PRESENTATION: Judy Hannemann  introduced Bert Raphael as today’s speaker:

Bert’s extremely entertaining program (with the help of wife Anne) explored 43 iconic photos of Bert and Anne’s travels around the world. Each photo defined a place, i.e. the Eifel Tower=Paris! The club had a great time, some easy some not, discovering the whereabouts of each photo. We are a well traveled group, and did very well at where’s Waldo, uh where’s Bert!

Thanks again Bert and Anne for a great program—and reminding us that some of the best programs come from within.

Next week is a very special meeting: Professor David Cooper will join us to talk about “Responses to Disasters – the Sri Lankan Experience.” His wife, Professor Joy Palmer-Cooper, will also join us. We welcomed Joy earlier in the year when she joined us to celebrate her 30th anniversary as a Rotary International Scholar.  Justine DeClaro,  who we sponsored last summer for an exchange experience in Italy, will also be our guest.

 

 Our “three-fer” for next week is Bruce Barsi.
