Announcements:

July 14^th is the District Roast and Toast for outgoing District Governor Roger Hassler,  hosted by our new D. G. Arley Marley at Saratoga Springs. Cost is $35 per person. Infomation on the District website.

August 13 is District 5170’s Rotary Family Day at the A’s. Proceeds benefit RYLA. The Club usually buys tickets which are then donated to youth, Interacters and others.

Chuck has tickets for the San Jose Giants game on July 30. BBQ and game ticket $25 for adults and $15 for children under 14.  Game time is 6 PM.  Sign up by July 19, the next meeting.

The District will hold a free membership seminar on August 18, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. The agenda includes membership development, retention, visioning, diversity, philosophy and public image. Register through the District website.

Our first evening meeting beginning 5:45 pm will be on Tuesday, July 26, at Savvy Cellars. (Beside the train station)  Cost will be the same as our lunch meetings ($10), and will include a ticket for a glass of wine and light refreshments. This is a social meeting so bring a guest.

New price – Beginning next month (August) the cost for lunch will increase to $15 for Members and $20 for visitors.

President Anita is seeking a member to co-ordinate the bulletin on a monthly basis.

Hal, our New Generations Chair, wants help with the speech contest.

Jerylann needs help to plan and direct membership activities for the coming year.

Speaker was Shari Bookstaff  a biology professor at Skyline College specializing in marine mammals. She described her experiences with doctors’ diagnoses, subsequent surgery for a brain tumor, hospital and rehab care and final homecoming.  She has written about her challenges in her book, "When Life Throws You Lemons ... Make Cranberry Juice! “
