Club Meeting November 24, 2009

President Tom welcomed all members and guests.

Bill Maston thought we should remember the importance of life at all times while we can.  Phil emphasized the thought with "Oh what a beautiful Day ..."

Visiting Rotarians from the Club of Tuticorin in India were its President, Usha Ganesan, and her husband Di Ganesan. Joseph Libby, who comes from Hamamatsu Power Club in Japan, lives in IwataCity. Vince Bitz came from Los Altos Sunset Club.

We also welcomed a prospective member, Marios Ligunis.

President Tom proposed a toast to Rotarians around the world.

Alicia Crank asked for support for the Nationwide Tour charity golfing event in San Francisco next April. This will benefit Leadership Mountain View.

As Finemaster, Alicia recognized Alan Goodman who had been to Washington.

Hal Taylor paid for his Birthday on Sunday and his volunteering for Habitat for Humanity, Ernie Couture for his 55^th wedding anniversary.

Ken Schwaderer was wearing a gold and blue smile and Fred lost money for Stanford's performance last Saturday.

Bruce Barsi reported that last Sunday 270 Thanksgiving food baskets were distributed for Cops and Gobblers an event, well supported by the community including many Rotarians from Mountain View and Los Altos..

Members should still sign up for the holiday Party on December 6 at 6pm at Don Giovanni's on Castro Street.

Volunteers are needed for Bellringing for the Salvation Army on December 12 at Shoreline Safeway.

Our speaker was Chris Wright from HOPE Services on Middlefield Road in Mountain View. HOPE is helping over 3000 people with developmental disabilities to live and work in their communities. Chris introduced Rita who told us how she works in the office talking to other clients and helping with paper work.

Next week lunch will be served by Four Seasons Catering.  (They also cater the Los Altos Club.) The greeter and thought person is Sandi McDonough.
