Meeting Recap Sept 11, 2012
President Judy called the meeting to order at 12:37 pm.
The pledge of Allegiance was led by Walt Joyce and recited by all.
Phil Armi acknowledged the anniversary of 9/11 and led us in singing “God Bless America.”
Tom Myers read a quote off the iPhone of our speaker Young Han, who had googled the quote for Tom. The quote was about having an important relationship with oneself, which is illegal in many southern states.
President-Elect Bruce introduced visitors and visiting Rotarians. Jack Wong was introduced. Jack is a prospective member who works at Morgan Stanley on Castro Street. Also introduced was Klaus who is a member of the Gualala Rotary Club. Klaus is from Germany, but Gualala is in California.
President-Elect Bruce played the ever-popular Rotary Jeopardy with us all. Jerylann was cheered for her birthday and Bob Williams was congratulated on his 57th wedding anniversary.
Announcements:
President Judy talked at length about the opening of school and all the great stuff happening at the high school district.
RotaCare Clinic is (was) having an open house today (last Tuesday) from 5 to 6 pm. All are (were) invited to see this great program that our club was instrumental in setting up and (and still is) supporting.
A Sante, the fundraiser for the RotaCare Clinic is on November 7. Tickets are $50 and available from Carla Paul. Come enjoy wine, food and fun!
Calling all photographers! Are you an aspiring Annie Leibowitz or Ansel Adams? Your club needs your talent. Are you without talent? We still need you….to take pictures of club activities and meetings. Contact President Judy if you’re interested.
Our first meeting in October will be a Candidates’ Forum for people running for City Council. You can submit questions in advance to Twana Karney.
Avenues of Service is Thursday, October 25. Sign-up sheet and fliers are on the reception table at the meeting.
Monique Kane thanked all for participating in the CHAC parking lot project for the Art and Wine Festival. A record amount was raised.
President Judy presented a token of appreciation to Fred Storek for hosting our club at his annual tailgate party prior to a Stanford football game.
Geri Felix told us how well we are doing at fulfilling our pledge to the Rotary Foundation. But we still need more pledges!

Young Han spoke about the new venture GoVoluntr.com. It is a multilevel platform to encourage and increase volunteers to nonprofit service providers.
