Meeting Summary Feb 8, 2011
President Sandi opened the meeting at 12:33 PM
Dennis Kobza led us in the pledge to the flag
President Sandi gave a short Rotary poem.
Phil Armi called all women to the front and led us in “Let Me Call You Sweetheart”.
President Elect Anita had Jack Kelly of Los Altos introduce himself.
New member Barry Cook was introduced by President Sandi, along with his sponsor, Phil Armi. Barry received his red badge and other introductory material. Members gave him a standing ovation.
Announcements:
-A Board meeting will be held tomorrow, February 9th at 5 PM at the Y.
-The MVLA Roundtable Common Scholarship Applican is now available on our web site. The deadline to apply is Marh 30th.
-Bruce Barsi announced that the March 24-28 ski trip to Tahoe is set with 20 persons set to go. The charge will be $33 per person to cover renting of the second home.
-Beverages remaining from the Crab Feed were offered for sale.
-Bill Matson stated that he had information from Fiji that he would like to present to the membership at a future date.
-The Rotary Club of Poipu Beach in Kauai is having a fundraiser to pay for scholarships and community projects. You can win a 7 night

-No one gave us plans for a great Valentine’s Day
Speaker – Speech Contest
-Rylan Schaeffer won first place with Leland Lee in second. Karen Seifert was the coach.
- Rylan will go on to the zone contest in Los Altos on March 3rd.
Next week’s speaker will be Paul Nyberg, Publisher of the Los Altos Town Crier.
The Greeter and Thought person will be Walt Joyce.
