Club Announcements:

Reminder to those who signed up for the District mid-year meeting, it is this Saturday  January 8, 2011 at the Doubletree in San Jose from 8am – 11am.

 

A new member proposal has been approved by the board for Barry Cook from Peak Laboratories in Mountain View.

If any member has an objection to this proposal please contact a board member in writing stating your reasons.

If no objections are received within 10 days of this publication the prospective member will be elected to membership.

 

Our next board meeting is scheduled for Wednesday Jan. 12th at the YMCA at 5pm.

 

Save the Date – Celebration of Leaders to honor Chuck Osborn is Friday January 14, 2011 at the Four Season’s in EPA.

 

Crab Feed – Alan Goodman has passed around the sign up for all hands on deck, January 29th. Please see Alan if you have a specific place you want to help out, otherwise he will assign youJ

The district is looking for Rotary Talent for the District Conference in May. A sign up sheet with audition information was passed around.

 

Bruce Barsi has graciously invited the club to his cabin in Tahoe in March for skiing & winter fun. Please see Bruce and sign up if you are interested.

 

Anita Grossman attended the Round Up with RI President Ray Klinginsmith on Sunday and took along our honorary member Matt Caparas. Anita shared that both of these men were very inspiring.

 

Fine Master – Judy Hannemann questioned several members about their Holiday activities and fined each $10

 

Speaker – Jim Mealey , District Chair – Gates Polio Eradication Challenge Grant

Mountain View’s total contributions since Dec. 7, 2007 are $3786.84 with our Interact Clubs contributing $1946.84 of those dollars.

The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation has given Rotary International $355 million to help us and our Partners eradicate polio from the face of this earth. The challenge: Rotary must raise $200 million by June 30, 2012. As of December 31, 2010 Rotary has raised $157 million with District 5170 raising $337, 187
