Introduction of Visitors: Anita Grossman introduced Teresa Alvarado from the San Jose club and Ernie’ Hawk’s grandson Nathan Hawks back from Australia.

 

Presentations:

-President Sandi thanked Hal, Judy, Chuck & Jim Cunningham for attending the Youth Certification Training. They are well trained now!

-Alicia Crank shared with us highlights of her trip. Total 28 travelers, 7 from the Bay Area. She is still uploading to her blog. Shared the Rotary banners she received from other clubs and has come back with some great project ideas. Her fundraising efforts with this trip have helped clubs there with their projects in the amount of $1500.

 

Club Announcements:

-In March 2011, 20 members of Foster City Rotary Club will be traveling to South Africa to deliver wheelchairs and provide service in some of the more needy communities. There is room for 20 more.

-Asante was well attended & fun.

- Bruce Barsi -Cops & Gobblers, Sunday Nov 21st 9am, please bring stuffed animals.

-Polio Plus Update – Since the weather prevented us from having a successful World Polio Day the district has a large collection of T-shirts they are now asking members to purchase for $25.

-Based on the current cost of polio drops our walk on October 24th saved 44,000 kids from contracting polio.

-Sheila has been collecting the returns from our mailer fundraiser and we need to know how many folks mailed out letters so we know if we are still waiting on returns. Not too late to get donations.

-Anita - Holiday Party Dec. 4th - Gift Exchange. Don Giovannis $50 per person.

-Bill Maston: Villa Siena expansion, open house Dec 5th 1-4pm. Blessing of building will be at 2 pm.

-Alan - Crab Feed January 29, need everyone’s help. Hope to have tickets in next 1-2 weeks.

-Cliff Dochterman – Past RI President is speaking at the East Oakland Rotary Club on December 1st at 12:15 inviting all Rotarians in Dist. 5170 Cost is $20 RSVP by Nov 29th.

 

Foundation – Gerry Felix. Our annual goal was $5,700 and we have sent in $5,840 plus received another $400 today. 9 members have not contributed; please donate $20 for raffle ticket.

 

Fine Master – Judy Hannemann. Bert & Ernie have the same birthday today! Stanford vs. Cal game the following in for $20 each: Stanford – Jim Spangler, Jim Cunningham, Judy Hannemann, Tom Myers, Ernie Hawks, Chuck Osborn & Fred Storek (in abstentia); Cal – Ken Schwarderer, Bill Maston & Walt Joyce. Losers have to wear other team’s colors at next meeting!
