Meeting Summary November 15, 2002

President Anita welcomed  everyone at 12.30 pm.

Sheila Hodgkinson made us think about cultivating gardens with determination.

Phil Armi led us to “the Halls of Montezuma”

Visiting from Los Altos Rotary was John McAlister, owner of the Baskin Robbins on El Camino & Shoreline – next to Dave Cole’s business.

General Club Announcements:

●        The District is starting a public awareness campaign that will help every club and is looking for high resolution pictures that demonstrate District 5170 community service, international projects, fellowship and New Generations.

●        Alan Goodman urged everyone to sell tickets for the Crab Feed on January 28.

●        The Holiday Party is Sunday, December 11 at Cuccina Venti on Shoreline, 6:00 pm for cocktails and 7:00 for dinner. There will be a gift exchange and Madrigals will be sung by Mountain View High School students.

November 20 - 9.00 am at the Police Station for Cops and Gobblers Thanksgiving distribution of 300 baskets.

                November 22 – Club Meeting-  Chuck Osborn will talk about triathaloning.

●        November 29^th  - fellowship meeting at The Cantankerous Fish.

Rotary Foundation Minute: Gerry Felix reminded us of the beginnings of the Foundation and our pledges to continue to contribute.

Membership Minute: Jerylann Mateo wants names of potential members

Jim Spangler is arranging for us to help with a CSA Service Project on Wednesday, December  21, 1.30 – 4.00pm  He has already received 20 contributions towards our commitment to the Rotacare Fund.

Carla Paul announced that the A Sante event raised about $31,000 for Rotacare.

Bill Maston, back from Fiji, described his unexpected involvement in the Islanders’ customs with the death and burial of a village elder who had passed away during a village celebraton.

Tom Myers is looking to name Board members for next year.
